Negative Atmosphere is a third-person, over-the-shoulder psychological horror game, with a massive emphasis on survival. Hopes are high for this installment though because of how disappointing the previous game was, and if it can use the original’s blueprint and then improve on it with great modernizations and with a cleaner outcome, then this game should be a real treat when it is released early next year.

This series has been a bit topsy turvy to be honest, with the original game from 2016 being highly received before the 2019 sequel sent Blooper Team crashing back down again. The first game on this list of upcoming psychological horror games for 2023 is the second sequel in the Layers of Fear series.
We’re also looking at a slightly more colorful art style. Instead of taking place in or remotely close to the town of Silent Hill, this game will center around an area within Japan. With that said, this particular game is a bit different than some of the past installments. This is a brand new experience coming from Neoboards Entertainment, and you might know them best from Resident Evil Resistance. One is a game simply dubbed Silent Hill F. During this event showcase, we got word of a few different projects in the works. During October 2022, fans were treated to a Silent Hill stream event. Their past works have been more of a horror puzzle type of gameplay experience, so perhaps we’re going to see something in that realm for Silent Hill Townfall, but for now, we’ll have to wait and see.Īfter years of silence, Konami has finally awoken the Silent Hill franchise. The event didn’t unveil any gameplay footage but, instead, is more of a teaser to alert fans of this new upcoming Silent Hill experience. Now their in the process of making Silent Hill Townfall which we don’t have too much information on quite yet. These are the folks behind Stories Untold and Observation. The company unveiled that the IP was being revived and one of the development teams to help in this endeavor is No Code. Silent Hill got a big highlight from Konami in October 2022. There are a good few remakes heading our next year as well to keep an eye on as well as some original ideas, so here is a list of some anticipated upcoming psychological horror games for 2023. This is a genre that has been hit and miss over the years, but when studios do get them right, they are – for the most part – equally terrifying and brilliant.
2023 is shaping up to be a pretty good year for gaming, with so many different genres that will begin to appear for us all to play from shooters, RPGs, open-world exploration games, and – what this list is all about – psychological horror games that will frighten the life out of you.
